› HARDWARE OVERVIEW
- The X630-A5 is an accessory designed to remotely turn on/off, restart, or manage an ATX motherboard’s power state. This is critical for “remote power control for ATX”—think managing a home server, workstation, or 3D printer PC from afar without physical access.
- It’s part of the PiKVM ecosystem, an open-source solution for Keyboard-Video-Mouse (KVM) over IP. The X630-A5 connects to the ATX power/reset pins and interfaces via ethernet, enabling full power management (on/off/reset) through a web browser. This suits scenarios like remote IT administration, headless servers, or unattended systems where you need hardware-level control.
- Designed to route and extend power switch, reset switch, power LED, and HDD activity LED signals from the motherboard to an easily accessible external location.
- For users needing dependable remote access—say, rebooting a crashed server or powering on a machine for OS installs—it provides a low-latency, hardware-based solution, unlike software-dependent methods (e.g., Wake-on-LAN) that fail if the system is off or unresponsive.
- A 50cm extension cable is included for flexible installation and efficient cable management.
› APPLICATIONS
Custom PC builds that require easier front-panel access or external control. Testing and diagnostics in bench setups where front-panel headers need to be extended outside the chassis. Remote power control solutions in server or industrial environments. Modding and customization projects that focus on improving cable management and layout optimization.
